Dr. Kubo, Director of the JUIDA, spoke at Drone Enable 2023 held at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Dr. Kubo, a member of our board of directors, spoke at Drone Enable 2023 held at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada, on behalf of JAXA/ReAMo. He introduced the importance of flight information sharing between drones, aircrews, and conventional manned aircraft at low altitudes, as well as related institutional trends and research and development in Japan. Recordings of the symposium, including past sessions, are available on ICAO TV free of charge (anyone can watch with “Watch Free” registration). He spoke at the 2021, 2022, and 2023 symposiums.

What is ICAO?
ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) is a United Nations specialized agency that creates international standards and guidelines in the field of aviation. The AAM-SG (Advanced Air Mobility Study Group), which aims to establish international standards for new types of air mobility, such as unmanned aerial vehicles and flying cars, was launched in 2023. This will be the most important activity for the standardization of unmanned aircraft technology and systems in the future, although more than some JUIDA members may not be familiar with it.
