MOU Partner Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) Visits JUIDA
Taiwan’s important partner, the non-profit organization Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC), which signed an MOU with JUIDA in March 2018, visited JUIDA for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. Accompanied by the Digital Industry Agency of Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs, this visit marked a valuable opportunity to reconnect in person, review each other’s progress, and further strengthen collaboration.
During this visit, both parties agreed to renew the MOU as its validity period had expired. The two organizations shared information on technological developments and current conditions since the COVID-19 pandemic and exchanged opinions on the utilization of drone technology, which the Taiwanese government is particularly focusing on, in the private sector.
Based in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, MIRDC has achieved notable results in diverse fields, including
offshore wind power, AI-powered infrastructure monitoring, and underwater drones for fishery support. In Taiwan, drones are increasingly being employed to address challenges in renewable energy and the agriculture and fisheries sectors, with robust government backing for these initiatives.
This renewed agreement is expected to deepen the collaboration between JUIDA and MIRDC and contribute to the advancement of the drone industries in both countries.
